The History

COMPANY

The area of the port now occupied by Mariter was originally the premises of Borma S.p.A, a famous Livorno glassworks in business since 1884.

For many years this zone was known locally as the “ex Borma” area.

Mariter was incorporated on 20th July 1990 and established itself in the area left vacant by Borma. The original shareholders were Cooperativa Impresa Lavoratori Portuali (C.I.L.P), L. Politi e Figli S.A.S and Sirio Volpi S.r.L.

After a corporate reorganisation, C.I.L.P was left as sole shareholder, while the company’s operations were focused on the management of warehouses for domestic and foreign goods, shipments by land and sea, and import-export operations.

In 1993 the Gruppo Colorobbia took over both the company and the “ex Borma” area from C.I.L.P, initially for the provision of services to the Group companies.

During the last decade,
Mariter has extended its operations beyond the Colorobbia Group to include external customers, and reacquired its original role as a supplier of quality services in the Leghorn port.
